Manchester United suffer blow as Arsenal ready move for Kieran Trippier
According to The Sun (h/t The Metro), Arsenal are ready to make a move for Kieran Trippier before the end of the month, amidst links to Manchester United.
The Red Devils, who completed the signings of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Raphael Varane from Real Madrid, have been eager on strengthening their right-back department as well this summer.
The club are keen on providing more competition to Aaron Wan-Bissaka in that position and had targeted Kieran Trippier for that very role. The club also started negotiating for the player right after the end of last season, however, their opening bid of £10million for the English international was readily rejected by Atletico Madrid. However, that did not play any role in the club losing their interest in the player as the Red Devils came back into the market in July as they lodged a second bid of £20million, but Atletico refused to budge on their £34million valuation of the full-back, according to The Sun (h/t Daily Mail).
Trippier has also been said to be keen on a move back to the Premier League this summer after playing a crucial role in Atletico’s La Liga triumph last year. The Englishman made 28 La Liga appearances for the Spanish outfit while he also provided 6 assists in the process.
However, Diogo Dalot’s resurgence in recent weeks calmed down United’s hunt for Trippier. While that was the case, Premier League rivals Arsenal are now ready to make a move for the 30-year-old as they look to bolster their defence.

This would come as a blow for the Old Trafford outfit, who might not like to see one of their summer transfer targets end up in the hands of a rival club. While there is nothing concrete yet on a move for the player, the Red Devils would be hoping that nothing materialises between the Gunners and the Englishman.
