Manchester United have suffered a blow in their pursuit of Declan Rice

According to an interview done on talkSPORT (h/t Express), David Moyes has fired off a warning regarding the sale of Declan Rice this summer amidst links with Manchester United.

The former United manager managed West Ham to a 6th place finish last season and is not keen on letting his players leave, especially Declan Rice, who the Hammers valued at £100million this summer. (h/t The Express)

“We’ve got some players that we value at £100million, and we won’t be selling them. That’s the way it is, you’re not going to get rid of your better players, you don’t do it. And if you are then it’s going to be for huge money”.

The Red Devils were interested in signing the England international this summer after his impressive performances for West Ham last season. He also featured for the Three Lions at the Euros as he helped them to the final of the competition.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been keen on adding some depth to his midfield this season, especially due to the uncertainty surrounding the future of Paul Pogba. The Frenchman is in the final year of his contract, and recruiting early for a replacement would bode well for the Red Devils.

Moreover, with Nemanja Matic’s contract set to end in 2023, Rice could be the long-term replacement for the Serbian.

Rice’s humongous valuation, however, has put off United from trying to sign the player this summer as they have already spent over £100million on the summer signings of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

With Moyes now clear on not letting Rice leaving this summer, it all but rules out the Red Devils from the race to sign the player.
