Manchester United have received a fresh boost in pursuit of Eduardo Camavinga
Eduardo Camavinga has asked to leave Rennes this summer amidst interest from Manchester United, according to an interview done by Rennes’ sporting director Florian Maurice (h/t Manchester Evening News).
One of the brightest prospects in world football, Eduardo Camavinga has been continually linked with a number of clubs this summer, including English giants Manchester United. The youngster will be out of contract next summer and is prepared not to sign a new contract at the club, which in turn, would entail Rennes to cash in on the player while they still can.
The Red Devils have already done some good business in the transfer market this summer by signing the likes of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane. However, the club are still on the lookout for a central midfielder this summer, with Eduardo Camavinga one of the names on their priority list.
United’s need arises out of the fact that Paul Pogba is in the final year of his contract and should they not lose him this summer, they stand a chance of losing him in the next one. Moreover, the Red Devils also need reinforcements in central defensive midfield – a role Camavinga can play.
While there was no certainty on if Camavinga was going to leave this summer, sporting director Florian Maurice has handed a big boost to Manchester United as he confirmed that the player wants to leave in an interview. Maurice said on France Bleu Armorique, as quoted by Fussball Transfers (h/t Manchester Evening News):
“I know what he (Camavinga) wants. We now have to find a solution that satisfies both parties. When a player’s contract expires, we either renew it and find a solution, or we have to find a solution to an exit”.
