Jesse Lingard has provided an update to Manchester United fans amidst positive Covid test
According to a tweet put out by Jesse Lingard, the Manchester United midfielder has revealed that he is feeling ‘much better’ after testing positive for Covid-19.
Lingard tested positive Covid-19 ahead of United’s pre-season friendly against Everton on Saturday. While United did run out as 4-0 winners in the game, they now face the prospect of the Englishman being unavailable for the season opener against Leeds United.
While that may be the case, the player has reassured fans that he is already feeling better, indicating that he might be fit for United’s second game of the season, which is scheduled against Southampton on the 22nd of August. The 28-year-old had tweeted out the following upon receiving his positive test result (h/t MEN).
“Really gutted to have tested positive after a good pre-season, luckily I feel fine and will follow the guidelines and be back with the boys on pitch very soon! Thank you for your support.”
Now, he has sent another message to the fans, indicating that he is doing better while thanking them for their support.
“Feeling much better. Thank you for all the messages.”
The English international, who had fallen out of favour with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last season, enjoyed a great second half on loan at West Ham United under former United manager David Moyes. Lingard scored 9 goals and provided 5 assists in all competitions as helped the Hammers to a 6th place finish in the league table.
This led to Solskjaer including the 28-year-old in his plans for the season with Lingard also wanting to stay at the club. The attacking midfielder featured in all three of United’s pre-season games before the Everton game, while he also scored the opening goal of the game against Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
