Transfer News: PSG and Manchester United handed blow by Juventus in Cristiano Ronaldo pursuit
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t Daily Star) after Juventus beat Cesena 3-1 in a friendly, director Pavel Nedved clarified that Manchester United and PSG transfer target Cristiano Ronaldo will stay with the Old Lady for this season.
The Portuguese superstar left Old Trafford in 2009 after a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League final. Since then, he has built an impeccable legacy at Real Madrid and recently, Juventus.
Now 36, Ronaldo has been linked with a return to Old Trafford as well as a move to Ligue 1 behemoths, PSG. But Nedved mentions that Ronaldo will rejoin training on Monday and will remain with the Serie A outfit.
“Ronaldo will return to training on Monday and he will stay with us.”
Ronaldo return looks unlikely
Even at his age, he does not seem like slowing down at all. The former Sporting CP man netted 29 goals to win the Capocannoniere despite Juventus stumbling to 4th place under former boss, Andrea Pirlo.
United fans would have been dreaming of Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford ever since he bid farewell 12 years ago. Despite his impressive form and fitness, it is hard to see him playing for too long at the top level.
And with each passing season, the gleam in the eyes of each United supporter that dreams of seeing Ronaldo play for the Red Devils again seems to be getting dimmer and dimmer.

United have recently splashed £72.9million to bring Jadon Sancho back to Manchester from Borussia Dortmund. If the 21-year-old English winger turns out to be even half the player that Ronaldo was during his heyday at Old Trafford, United would know they’ve made a quality signing.
