Transfer News: Crystal Palace set to beat Manchester United for Joachim Andersen

According to the Sun, Joachim Andersen is set to snub transfer interest from Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham to join Crystal Palace.

The Lyon centre-back was on loan at Fulham last season and made a good impression throughout the season. However, the Danish international could not save his side from being relegated to the Championship.

He is now close to returning to the Premier League, with there being no shortage of suitors. However, despite United, Chelsea, and Spurs’ interest in him, it seems like Selhurst Park will be his next destination.

The deal could cost Patrick Vieira’s side up to £23million with add-ons as the former FC Twente defender looks set to sign a five-year deal for the London-based club.

No need for Andersen

This shouldn’t come as a cause of concern for the Red Devils faithful. They seemingly have bigger fish to fry as they continue to push in the direction of landing Raphael Varane at Old Trafford.

As per a report by Sky Sports, Manchester United are trying to finalize a move for Real Madrid’s Varane after already confirming the capture of Jadon Sancho from Manchester United.

The Reds already have Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe, and even Phil Jones. Adding Varane to that would surely take their defence to another level.

And if the Frenchman arrives at the Theatre of Dreams this summer, fans would hardly feel the need for another defender in their squad, such as Andersen. Varane, 28, is very much in the prime years of his career.
