Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reveals why Manchester United haven’t announced Jadon Sancho yet
Speaking after Manchester United beat Derby County in their first pre-season match (h/t Manchester Evening News), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer disclosed that Jadon Sancho will be announced as a United player once the final paperwork is completed.
The signing is all but done as the Red Devils have agreed a mammoth £72.9million fee with Borussia Dortmund. The saga has come to an end, but the official unveiling of Sancho as a Red Devil is yet to be done.
The medical is believed to have been completed and the personal terms are agreed, but Solskjaer says that once the final bit of paperwork is done, the club can announce him as their new signing.
“From what I understand only paperwork, small little details, hopefully we can announce something. Let’s get all the paperwork done and get him over the line and then I can say what I truly feel about the player.”
Announce Sancho
The 21-year-old had shone in the second half of last season at Borussia Dortmund and was picked by Gareth Southgate for England’s 2020 UEFA Euro squad. However, his treatment by the Three Lions manager made little sense to United fans.
Sancho was barely used by England and made his only start against Ukraine in a tie that England were favourites to win anyway. Southgate decided to bring him on in the final in the dying minutes of extra-time alongside Marcus Rashford.
The duo missed the penalty and Italy won the shoot-out in an emphatic manner. But all of that is now in the past and club football can take centre stage once again.

Both Rashford and Sancho could play a big role in whatever United go on to achieve next season. But that is still some time away. For now, United fans would only be craving for Sancho’s announcement by the club’s social media accounts.
