Transfer News: Real Madrid star Raphael Varane keen on Manchester United move
According to reliable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, French defender Raphael Varane is keen to join Manchester United in a move from Real Madrid.
The Reds are linked with the former Lens man and it seems like the saga is nearing its end. Romano mentions that Varane is open to accepting a contract until 2026 at Old Trafford, but will be respectful to his current side.
“Situation clear on Varane side. He’s ready to accept Manchester United contract proposal until 2026 if the agreement between clubs with Real Madrid will be reached in the next days/weeks. #MUFC Varane will be respectful with Real – but he’d love a Premier League experience.”
Varane is a defender that would take United’s defence to a new level. His stature would warrant a starting spot alongside Harry Maguire, who would undoubtedly appreciate a regular partner in defence.
Varane deal edges closer
The Englishman is a regular in the United squad but has had varying partners over the past few years. Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof shared game time last season as United finished runners-up in the league.
A four-time UEFA Champions League winner with Los Galacticos, Varane would also have the winning-mentality that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would need in his team if he is to win his first piece of silverware with the club.
At 28, he is also pretty much in the prime years of his career. This could also be the second major signing by the club this summer as they look to get their hands on their first Premier League title since the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
