Manchester United keen to see Paul Pogba hang up his boots at the club
According to The Athletic (h/t Sports Mole), Manchester United are keen to see French ace Paul Pogba see out his playing career at the Theatre of Dreams.
The World Cup winner is coming off the back of what was a personally rewarding yet unfulfilled campaign at the European Championship. With his contract up in 12 months, the 28-year-old now faces an important summer that could shape the final years of his prime.
The midfielder’s future has been a matter of much debate. French giants Paris Saint-Germain have enjoyed an excellent summer and could yet make a move for Pogba. Landing him would be the cherry on the top for a side still chasing their maiden Champions League title.
According to the report, United are hopeful that an agreement can be reached that will keep Pogba at the club. The preference is to see him hang up his boots as a United player.
The player does not appear to be too keen on a move to the French capital and could be open to penning fresh terms at United. One cannot fault him given the moves we have made in the market so far. Jadon Sancho is on his way to Old Trafford while a deal for Raphael Varane is coming along nicely.
Pogba could potentially start next season, surrounded by top players who could help him further United’s fortunes in the new decade. The player for his part has been inconsistent at the club, but the impact he can have on the field when on his game is unparalleled.
The heir?
United have already identified Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga as Pogba’s replacement should he choose to move on. The teenager is one of the world’s best young talents and is in a similar predicament as the United star.
With his contract also winding down, United could potentially land Camavinga for a cut-price deal this summer. Either way, there will be a Frenchman in our midfield come next season.

There is little doubt that when on form, there are few players in the world better than Pogba. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has largely been able to get the best out of him last season before injury struck. Whether we will see him continue to perform at a similar level or if he has already played his last game in red remains to be seen.
