Transfer News: Manchester United star Jesse Lingard edges closer to West Ham
According to transfer news from Claret&Hugh, Manchester United star Jesse Lingard is edging closer to a summer move to West Ham United.
The 28-year-old Lingard finds himself at a crossroads with regard to his future. Having fallen down the pecking order and struggled for game-time for the majority of the past couple of seasons, the Englishman left United on loan for West Ham in January.
During his time with the Hammers, Lingard enjoyed a great resurgence, as he quickly became one of the most in-form players in the Premier League, on the back of which he even forced his way back into the England national team.
Unlucky to have missed out on the final squad for the UEFA Euro 2020, Lingard is set for a critical summer with regard to his future. The report states that the England international has already held talks with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as he continues to study and assess his options.
However, the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund is likely to push him further down the pecking order at Old Trafford. And, having struggled for form prior to his switch to West Ham, Lingard is said to believe that he is unlikely to get enough game-time in case he opts to stay with his boyhood club.
This is now pushing him closer and closer to a permanent transfer to West Ham. The fact that David Moyes is intent on signing him and that the manager has agreed a new three-year deal with the Hammers is likely to play a major role in his decision, the report adds.

A permanent transfer away from Manchester United for Lingard makes the best sense, considering that he deserves to play regularly, something that is just not possible at Manchester United at this point in time. Whether he ends up sealing a return to West Ham remains to be seen now.
