Manchester United urged to sell Paul Pogba by Teddy Sheringham
Speaking to The United Stand (h/t Mirror), former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham has called on the club to sell midfielder Paul Pogba in the ongoing transfer window.
The French midfielder returned to Manchester United in the summer of 2016 after having left the club on a free transfer four years earlier. However, he has failed to justify the club-record transfer fee investment in him, failing to deliver on a consistent basis at Old Trafford.
While Pogba can be unplayable on his day, as was seen in some of his performances at the UEFA Euro 2020, he hasn’t been able to repeat the same feats with Manchester United.
Now into the final year of his contract, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is again the subject of transfer speculation. And Manchester United icon Sheringham has urged the club to part ways with Pogba rather than losing him for free next year, insisting that he is not a top player. (h/t Mirror)
“It’s a funny situation, isn’t it? He’s got a year to go and could go on a free and go and get himself an absolute fortune – as if they don’t earn enough money now.
“I think if United or Ole got vibes that’s what he was trying to do, I’m sure he’d try to sell him now and get as much as he could for him. Whether that’s the right thing or the wrong thing… he’s sometimes played in midfield and sometimes been left out, but if you’re a top player you don’t get left out.”

Pogba’s situation certainly poses a major dilemma to the Manchester United management. The Frenchman did play a key role in the club’s run to the UEFA Europa League final last year but has shown no indication that he wants to sign an extension. If that is the case, United would be better off cashing in on him rather than losing him for nothing, yet again.
