Roberto Carlos reacts to Manchester United star Luke Shaw on Instagram
Luke Shaw has been in such good form for England that his performances have caught the eyes of none other than the legendary Roberto Carlos.
The Brazilian left-back is considered to be amongst the finest players in the position in football history. The very fact that he acknowledges Shaw’s performances shows just how far the United star has come.
Shaw made two assists in England’s 4-0 win over Ukraine in their Euro 2020 quarterfinals. He was one of the best players on the night as the Three Lions booked their place in the semi-finals of a second major international tournament under Gareth Southgate.
According to Manchester Evening News, Shaw took to social media after the game to celebrate England’s win. Carlos issued his seal of approval by replying to the player’s post with a number of clapping hands emojis.
While Carlos has not used any words, his actions show the impression Shaw has left on the Brazilian ace. He is clearly impressed with what he’s seeing from the United left-back right now. Hopefully, it is not a flash in the pan and the 25-year-old will hopefully continue to put up similar performances on the board.
Shaw currently has three assists in just four appearances for England in this summer’s Euros. With the semifinal against Denmark and potentially the final to come, there is a good chance he could match David Beckham’s tally of five assists. At just 25, Shaw still has a crack at future tournaments and should be expected to surpass Beckham’s tally. Given that he is a left-back, it is all the more impressive.
