Manchester United ready to loan out Donny van de Beek to Real Madrid
According to The Express, Manchester United are set to demand £2million from Real Madrid in order for them to take Donny van de Beek on a season-long loan this summer.
The Dutch international is currently at the Aon Training Complex as he continues to recover from injury. Originally named in the Netherlands squad for the Euros, his trip was cut short due to injury. It was perhaps a fitting end to what was already a disappointing season for the player.
United signed Van de Beek last summer after being priced out of a move for Jack Grealish. While the 24-year-old is a solid player, he has failed to showcase the same abilities in a red shirt. His lack of opportunities has not helped either.
Van de Beek played just 1456 minutes for United across all competitions last season. This is comparatively lower than the 3171 minutes he managed at Ajax Amsterdam the season before. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Real Madrid were linked with a move for the player last summer but were unable to land him. They could however do this time around on loan. According to the report, the Spaniards could make the deal permanent for around £40m. This will be good news for United, who will recoup what they originally paid for him.
With Luke Modric and Toni Kroos not getting any younger, Van de Beek could get better game time at Real. Moreover, he could thrive in the league and go on to capture the form he showed at Ajax Amsterdam.
With Paul Pogba’s future also uncertain, just what Van de Beek’s potential exit could signify is debatable. The Red Devils have been linked with moves for Eduardo Camavinga and Declan Rice in recent weeks.
