Boost for Manchester United as talks between Rennes and Eduardo Camavinga stall
According to the French outlet Le Parisien, Manchester United target Eduardo Camavinga looks set to leave Rennes this summer.
The 18-year-old is one of the best young players in the world and is currently in the last year of his contract. A regular for Rennes, he has made 82 appearances, scoring twice and assisting five more for the Ligue 1 side. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Camavinga has also made his senior bow for the French national team. Quite the feat given the players at Les Bleus’ disposal. There is little doubt that he is a player of vast potential and could emerge into a world-class player in the future.
As things stand, talks between Rennes and Camavinga regarding a new deal have stalled. The report goes on to say that his departure from the club looks inevitable. Rennes could protect their interests and cash in on their starlet this summer rather than risk losing him on a free in a year’s time. (h/t Manchester Evening News)
The player for his part resumed training with Bruno Genesio’s group at the start of the week. As of yet, the French side are yet to receive an offer from Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United or any other interested party. This could however change as the window nears a close.
Having missed out on Jude Bellingham last summer, United have identified Camavinga as a better alternative. The Red Devils believe Camavinga is a much better talent and could add him to their ranks this summer. Camavinga’s agent, Josh Barnett, admitted earlier this year that the Frenchman could play in England next season. Whether that will be at United remains to be seen.
