Massimiliano Allegri urges Juventus to sign Manchester United star Paul Pogba
According to 90min (h/t Sports Mole), Juventus manager Massimilano Allegri has urged the club to land Manchester United star Paul Pogba.
The 28-year-old is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and has yet not made his intentions regarding his future. United cannot afford to let the Frenchman run down his contract and leave for free in a year’s time.
A world-beater on his day, Pogba largely showed his best qualities at this summer’s Euros. He made a man of the match performance against Germany before impressing against both France and Switzerland.
According to the report, United are unsure of whether to hand the 28-year-old a lucrative new £400k-a-week contract. It would make the Frenchman the highest earner at the club, overtaking David de Gea, who is battling demons of his own.
Juventus have already informed Ronaldo’s entourage of their interest and could be about to snap him from United for the second time in a decade. It was in Turin that Pogba evolved from a talented young player to a world-class midfielder.
He made 178 appearances for the Old Lady, scoring 34 goals and 40 assists. It is fair to say that his goal contribution per game has dipped since he moved to United amidst much fanfare. Whether a return to his former stomping grounds is in order remains to be seen.
Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast (h/t Sports Review), reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Untied for their part is keen to keep hold of Pogba this summer. With the Premier League set to kick off next month, we will need to come up with a decision soon. Losing a player of Pogba’s calibre on a free is just unfathomable.
