Transfer News: Atletico Madrid open to selling Manchester United target Saul Niguez

According to transfer news from Football.london, Atletico Madrid have opened the possibility of selling Manchester United target Saul Niguez. The Spanish champions recently got a fresh cash injection which will allow them to make new signings.

The Spanish midfielder has been linked with a move to United as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his midfield. A number of other clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool are also after him. Saul has not started a number of games this season which has led to him wanting a move away from Atletico. The fact that he has started just 22 games this season as compared to the 30+ starts in the three campaigns prior to this one meant that he missed out on Spain’s Euro 2020 squad. His current contract, which expires in 2026, contains a massive release clause of €150m.

Now, Atletico have made their stance known that Saul can leave the club. The club recently added a large sum to their transfer kitty, thereby helping with signing new players such as Rodrigo de Paul. That is likely to push Saul further down the pecking order and hence he will be allowed to leave. (h/t Football.london)
