According to a post made on Instagram, Manchester United youngster Charlie McNeill is seeking to get a head start on his preparations for the upcoming 2021/22 season.

The 17-year-old striker is one of United’s best young talents. He scored 25 goals and made 6 assists in just 25 games for the United youth side last season. While a first-team bow could still be a while off, he is on the right track.

It is fair to assume that the youngster will do himself more favours if he goes on to reproduce the numbers in the upcoming season. The fact that he is already working on his game ahead of pre-season shows the commitment he has for the cause.

According to United in Focus, McNeill was pictured at the weekend working with ‘bespoke speed development’ company Need For Speed 100. England star Phil Foden is among their esteemed clients. We wouldn’t complain if McNeill follows in the City star’s footsteps.

By adding more pace to his game, he will evolve into a difficult opponent to track down. A Red Devils fan, one cannot doubt his motivation for making the grade at the Theatre of Dreams. (h/t Manchester Evening News)

Having succeeded at the Under-18 level, McNeill will no make the step up to the Under-23 side next season. Armed with better pace, he will have another arrow to draw in his quiver of tricks next season. Just how he will adapt to the step up in quality will be interesting to see.

The teenager does not appear to have any lack of confidence either. In fact, just last season, he was keen to put arch-rivals Liverpool to the sword in the FA Youth Cup. However, it was not to be and the Merseysiders emerged victoriously. Hopefully, he will have learned from that setback and will ensure that United come out on top the next time.

United have a number of promising young players coming through the ranks. Hopefully, McNeill’s initiative will rub off on others seeking to make the cut at the Red Devils academy.
