Former Manchester United skipper Roy Keane has given his vote of approval to the club's transfer business this summer.

Transfer News: Chelsea could hijack Raphael Varane deal from Manchester United

According to transfer news from Football.london, Chelsea could end up hijacking Raphael Varane from Manchester United. They are looking to repeat what they did with Pedro and Cesc Fabregas a few years back when they swooped in ahead of United.

United are long-term admirers of the 28-year-old and have earmarked him as a candidate to partner skipper Harry Maguire in defence. The Frenchman is in the final year of his contract and could be available for free next summer.

Much like United, Chelsea are also in the hunt for a new central defender. The World Cup winner has been in talks with United but that is said to be going very slowly. That is understandable as the player is currently focused on the national team.

Now, Chelsea are planning to do what they did in 2014 and 15. In 2014, United were in talks with Fabregas who ultimately ended up joining Chelsea. The same happened with Pedro in 2015. Similarly, with talks going at a slow pace over Varane, Chelsea could look to crash in and get the player (h/t Football.london).

Varane’s spell at Real has been largely successful, with him winning four Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles. Hence, it is imperative United get their hands on the player and not leave room for Chelsea to repeat their hijack. It would leave a bitter taste in their mouth if they cannot get the defender.
