Manchester United on alert as Bayern Munich break off contract contract negotiations with Kingsley Coman
According to Sport 1 via Bayern Strikes (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United are on alert giving the latest developments regarding Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman.
The 24-year-old remains a key player at the Allianz Arena, with the German giants keen to tie him down to fresh terms. However, they have so far been unable to come to terms with the club now calling off negotiations.
The major sticking point is Coman’s wage demands. The player has employed super-agent Pini Zahavi who has demanded an annual salary of €8m for his client.
According to the report, Coman’s demands are inspired by Leroy Sane’s massive wages. The German winger is on an €18m wage package following his move from Manchester City.
Coman outperformed Sane last season, putting up better numbers in comparison to the German. The Frenchman’s entourage is now using this as a basis for their demands. Having also scored the goal that won Bayern the Champions League last year, it is fair to say Coman has the right to demand more.
While Bayern are ready to offer him a wage rise, it is nowhere near the player’s demands. In fact, it is slightly more than what he earns right now.
Zahavi was also the agent who recently negotiated with Bayern on behalf of David Alaba. The Austrian ultimately left the club on a free and is now a Real Madrid player. The Germans are keen to avoid the mistake with Coman.

With the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea interested, he has no shortage of suitors if he so chooses to move elsewhere. While Bayern do have time on their side, this summer gives them the opportunity to demand top dollar for the Frenchman.
Curiously, Coman has won the league with every team he has played for since 2012/13. This includes wins with Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and now Munich. Not bad for a player who is yet to hit his prime.
