Manchester United agree to personal terms with Jadon Sancho
According to the German publication Bild (h/t The Daily Mail), Manchester United have been knocked back in their first attempt to land Jadon Sancho.
The Red Devils have made an opening offer of €69.5m for the 21-year-old. But it falls short of Borussia Dortmund’s valuation and looks set to be rejected. Sancho is a long-standing target and while we may have fallen short here, there appears to be progress.
This is thanks to Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed that United have reached an agreement with the player’s camp and have agreed on personal terms for a deal until 2026. The player for his part is on board and has not caused any problems.
He also goes on to add that Dortmund are unwilling to negotiate on their €95m asking price. Both clubs are yet to come to an agreement. Thankfully, work appears to be going on behind the scenes and we will hopefully have good news soon.
Dortmund chiefs are aware that they are in a strong negotiating position. They are well aware that United cannot afford any more transfer embarrassment especially after failing to seal the deal last summer.
They also expect Sancho to become one of the leading names at the European championships, therefore driving up interest in his services and his price tag as a result. While it is in United’s interest to get the deal over the line soon, Sancho’s participation in the Euros could force them to wait.
A threat?
European champions Chelsea are also interested in the player and could yet make a late move to land him. The Blues are operating from a position of strength and appear keen to build upon their already strong squad.
Sancho grew up supporting the Londoners, giving them an extra edge if it comes to negotiations. However, since he has already agreed to move to United, it remains to be seen if he will go back on his word.

Sancho will not just make us a better team but also send out a signal that we can still attract the best talents in the business. The 21-year-old has the hallmarks of a world-beater and will hopefully develop into just that at Old Trafford. The ball appears to be in our court and it remains to be seen if we can seize the initiative.
