Manchester United still in the fray for AC Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu
According to the Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb (h/t The Express), Manchester United have made an offer to Hakan Calhanoglu to join them in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The 27-year-old is nearing the end of his time at AC Milan. Contract negotiations haven’t gotten anywhere and he looked set to leave the San Siro on a free.
An experienced player capable of playing a variety of roles, he would be an excellent addition to the Red Devils squad. The versatility will offer much to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer both in terms of depth and variation.
The likes of Bruno Fernandes, Donny van de Beek, Paul Pogba and Juan Mata are all capable of playing in the No 10 position. However, the futures of three of them unclear, adding Calhanoglu could become more of a priority in a few weeks.
United, however, aren’t the only ones in the frame to sign the Milan ace. Returning Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has identified the Turkish international as a prospective addition.
With Cristiano Ronaldo potentially set to leave the club behind, the Turin giants are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements. With their finances strained, the chance to secure Calhanoglu for free represents an excellent opportunity.
United for their part are set to have a busy summer and have already recognized Borussia Dortmund star, Jadon Sancho, as their priority target.
