Transfer News: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to keep Anthony Martial at Manchester United
According to the Daily Mail (h/t Express), Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made his decision regarding the future of Anthony Martial at the club.
The Frenchman came into the 2020/21 season riding high on the wave of a spectacular 2019/20 season. He ended the season as United’s top scorer and was also voted the Manchester United Players’ Player of the Year.
It has, however, proven to be a frustrating campaign for Martial who scored just seven goals all season. An injury sustained while on international duty in March not only ended his season prematurely but also denied him a spot in France’s squad for the Euros.
Martial’s struggles have seen him linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer. However, Solskjaer is keen to keep him as he plans to mount a title challenge next season.
United are keen to reinforce their attack this summer. Jadon Sancho is seen as a priority and looks set to once again be the focus of our attention. Adding the 21-year-old to our frontline would amplify our attack immensely.
Solskjaer has already told the Glazers he thinks Martial has a big role to play at the club next season. The Norwegian believes that in Sancho, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani, he has the resources to propel his side to title glory next term.
