Transfer News: Manchester United pick Jadon Sancho over Harry Kane
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United have chosen to make their move for Jadon Sancho ahead of Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane.
The Red Devils saw their season end with a whimper against Villarreal earlier this week. They now face a pivotal summer and will need to strengthen in a number of positions heading into next season.
One of the positions that need reinforcement is upfront. With Harry Kane potentially available, United could very well land themselves one of the best number nines in world football.
However, the club is keen to wait until 2022 and make a move for Erling Haaland. With Edinson Cavani having recently penned a new contract, United do not consider bringing in another striker as a priority. (h/t Daily Mail)
The Red Devils are instead keen to bring in a right-winger and have earmarked Jadon Sancho as their man. United have a long-term interest in the Borussia Dortmund star and unsuccessfully tried to sign him last summer.
Failure then has not put them off and they remain firmly interested in securing his services this time around. Sancho ended the season on a high, securing Champions League football for Dortmund alongside the DFB Pokal.
Signing Sancho will not be cheap. He will cost close to the club record £89 million that we paid for Paul Pogba in 2016. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer forced to work within a budget, he will have to prioritize who he wants to make his marquee signing.
The Norwegian has already informed the board that he sees Sancho giving us a new dimension in attack. He expects the signing to help us challenge for titles next season.

Daniel Levy is not a man to be trifled with and will demand top dollar for Kane. While there is little doubt regarding his ability, United cannot afford to put all their eggs in one basket.
There are multiple positions that need strengthening and we cannot afford to blow the majority of our budget on one player – Kane. More so, Solskajer believes he can get through to Haaland ahead of a potential move next season.
Having already managed him at Molde, the Norwegian has a direct line of contact with the young wonderkid. Hopefully, his assessment has more substance to it rather than just good vibes.
