Transfer News: Raphael Varane remains main defensive target for Manchester United
According to transfer news from Mirror, Raphael Varane still remains the primary defensive target for Manchester United. Reputed football journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the same. He said that Varane’s departure will be dependent on Zinedine Zidane’s future.
The Red Devils are in need of a new defender and have identified the French international as a priority signing. With his contract set to expire season year, Real too have a decision to make this summer.
Real Madrid are keen on cashing in on the Frenchman this summer and want to avoid losing him for free.
Varane was a subject of interest from Sir Alex Ferguson around 10 years ago. But he has now become a world-class star at Real Madrid. He is arguably at his peak right now. Signing Varane would be a massive statement by Manchester United indeed.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Varane is still United’s top defensive target in the summer. United have also kept the likes of Sergio Ramos and Jules Kounde as other options.
