“One of the best” – Several fans on cloud nine as Man United legend makes it to PL Hall of Fame

Manchester United fans rejoice as Eric Cantona is inducted into the Premier League hall of fame

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has been inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

The Frenchman spent just five seasons at Old Trafford. However, the iconic No.7 led us to four league titles and left behind a legacy of success on the pitch and a cult status off it.

Cantona scored 70 goals in 156 Premier League appearances in what was a short spell at Old Trafford. While there may be players more accomplished than him, the impact he had is long-lasting.

It is exemplified by the fact that Thierry Henry, an original inductee into the hall of fame, vouched for Cantona joining him on the pantheon earlier this month. That has now come true.

The Frenchman helped transform the Premier League into a truly global sensation. Not only did he have the ability but also the charisma to stand out and capture the imagination of fans worldwide.

Cantona is the first of six inductees chosen from a 23-man shortlist after a fans’ vote. The player for his part is proud but not surprised at his inclusion.

Cantona changed the fortunes of both United and the Premier League

“I am very happy and very proud and at the same time, I am not surprised.”

While he has had his share of controversies, it cannot be argued that Cantona was one of the finest players to play the game in the 90s. Thankfully now with his enshrinement, his legacy will live on.

We now take a look at how fans reacted to the news on social media.
