Manchester United target Boubakary Soumare edging towards Leicester City switch
According to the reliable journalist, Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Manchester United target Boubakary Soumare is close to joining Leicester City this upcoming summer.
The young French midfielder is a critical part of the Lille side vying for the Ligue 1 title. They are three points clear at the top of the table with two games left.
Soumare has made 41 appearances in all competitions this season, making two assists. At just 22, he has his whole career ahead of him and will only get better.
With his current contract expiring in 2022, Lille needed to make a decision on Soumare’s future this summer. As things stand, the Foxes look to have already agreed on personal terms with him.
As things stand they are close to reaching an agreement with just the finer details set to be agreed on. Romano goes on to state that Soumare will be signed for around €30m, a steal for a player of his potential.
The 22-year-old will sign a five year deal with the Foxes, keeping him at the King Power Stadium until 2026. It represents yet another coup for a Leicester side who has a keen eye for talent in the transfer market.
Leicester have turned to the French top flight to make a few shrewd additions in recent seasons. Both Wesley Fofana and Youri Tielemans arrived from Ligue 1 and have emerged as key pieces of Brendan Rodgers’ side.
It would now appear that Soumare will follow in their footsteps.

A product of the PSG youth setup, the 22-year-old has gone on to showcase his potential at the Stade Pierre Mauroy. With the future of Paul Pogba unclear and Nemanja Matic not getting any younger, United could have done with investment in the midfield.
Soumare for the quoted price would be an excellent addition. However, it would now appear that he will be lining up against us in the seasons to come.
