Norwich City eyeing Manchester United starlet Brandon Williams on loan
According to The Sun, Norwich City are contemplating if they should take Manchester United defender Brandon Williams on loan for next season.
The Championship winners are set to return to the top-flight next season after being relegated at the end of the 2019/20 campaign. They are big fans of Williams, who is hoping to be loaned out in search of regular football.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakout season in 2019/20 but has failed to hit the same heights this season. In fact, he made just 11 appearances this season, making a solitary assist. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The Canaries are not the only team keen on Williams. Southampton and West Ham United among others are also keeping tabs on his progress.
The Saints made an attempt to sign him on loan in February. However, they failed and the player stayed put at Old Trafford. They look set to rekindle their efforts again this summer.
Capable of playing on either flank, Williams is a two-way player who can bomb up and down the pitch. However, it must be admitted that he does have some development to do before he can make it at United.
Two birds with one stone?
Norwich may be in need of a right-back soon given the interest shown in Max Aarons. Interestingly, United too are one of the teams in the fray for the Canaries star’s signature.
Whether we can offer Williams in exchange as a sweetener to get the deal done remains to be seen.

With Luke Shaw and Alex Telles locking horns in the left-back position, Williams’ chances of overtaking either of them are minute. Meanwhile, on the other flank, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the first-choice right-back and United are also keen to bring in a backup for him in the summer.
A decent player, it wouldn’t hurt Williams to see if there are greener pastures elsewhere.
