Pinder: Manchester United should eye Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey as an alternative to Jadon Sancho
According to Football Fancast, Bundesliga expert Daniel Pinder believes Manchester United should look at Bayer Leverkusen star Leon Bailey as an alternative for Jadon Sancho.
The Red Devils have been long term admirers of the Borussia Dortmund star. A major effort was made to sign him last summer but the club refused to pay what Dortmund sought for his services.
United have since been linked with Bailey who is in his own right a very promising talent. Pinder believes he would make an excellent addition to the Red Devils’ attack.
He believes the 23-year-old Bailey’s versatility and ability to perform in different positions adds much to his persona. There appears to be little doubt in his mind that the youngster will be a hit at Old Trafford.
“I think he’d still make a really good impact. He can play either side of the striker, left-wing, right-wing, he’s two-footed, he can take on players, he’s got pace, he can shoot from distance and has added goals inside the box now.”
Pinder goes on to add that Bailey can take a step up at United and continue to develop his game at the highest level. Just 23, he still has time on his side to evolve into a game-winning superstar.
“As a winger and still at a young age, I think for a club like Manchester United, they could really help develop his game.”
Bailly has in fact enjoyed an excellent season this time around. The youngster has more goal contributions than Sancho in the Bundesliga and has shown more consistency.
The Red Devils are in the market for a new right-winger this summer. Daniel James is the club’s sole senior star in the position but has failed to put in a consistent run of performances.

Dortmund are not averse to selling Sancho in the summer if their demands are met. While that may give United hope, they don’t need to put all their eggs in one basket. Bailey has shown enough promise to suggest that Pinder’s assessment of him might just be true.
