Manchester United target Jadon Sancho has a gentleman’s agreement to leave Dortmund
According to ARD (h/t Metro), Manchester United have been handed renewed hope in their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund sensation Jadon Sancho.
This comes after it emerged that the German side have an agreement with the player to leave the club if their conditions are met. This was revealed by Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc.
“We already had a gentlemen’s agreement with Jadon last year that he can switch under certain conditions.”
The Red Devils are in the market for a new right-winger this summer. Daniel James is the club’s sole senior star in the position but has failed to cement his spot in the starting lineup.
Although we have signed both Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo, both youngsters will need time to settle and improve before making the cut as regulars.
In Sancho, United could land not just one of the best young players in Europe but also one who has good top level experience. He has so far made 12 goals and 18 assists in just 34 games for the Bundesliga side this season. (h/t Transfermarkt)
No such luck with Haaland!
United were very interested in signing Sancho last summer. However, the club was unwilling to pay the transfer fee of around £100m to secure his services.
While Dortmund has suggested little that they will lower the fee, it remains to be seen what their demands are. Zorc also went on to add that while Dortmund has an agreement with Sancho, there is no such stipulation regarding Erling Haaland.
“This agreement does not exist with Erling.”
