Transfer News: Manchester United to finally decide on Erling Haaland pursuit
According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United are close to deciding whether they want to pursue Erling Haaland. Several factors are being considered before coming to a decision, the biggest of them being the future of Edinson Cavani.
The Red Devils are in need of a striker and have unsurprisingly been linked with the 20-year-old Norwegian sensation. Having been aware of his talents since his emergence at Molde, the Red Devils are long-term admirers of the young star.
United were among the clubs that tried to sign him in January 2020 before he ultimately decided to join Borussia Dortmund. The 20-year-old is one of the most in-demand players in world football at the moment.
With a number of top teams in the fray to secure his signature, Borussia Dortmund are looking to strike gold this summer.
However, United are going into this smartly. The biggest factor they are considering is the future of Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan has been in sublime form over the past 2-3 months and United are keen to keep him for at least another season.
In the event that Cavani does end up staying, United are likely to drop their interest in Haaland this season. That would allow them to sign other players such as Raphael Varane and Declan Rice. However, if Cavani calls time at the end of the season, a full effort to sign Haaland can be expected from United.
