Solskjaer urges Manchester United to be wary of Edin Dzeko
Speaking to MUTV (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged his team to be wary of the threat posed by Roma forward Edin Dzeko.
The Bosnian veteran will be familiar with United, having spent five years at rivals Manchester City. Dzeko has faced us nine times, scoring seven goals and assisting two more. It is fair to say he has been a thorn in our side more often than not. (h/t Transfermarkt)
United go into the tie as the team in the better form. However, it will count for little in a two-legged fixture.
Solskjaer for one is not taking the game for granted and is keen to approach it with the necessary preparations. Roma is a dangerous side on their day and it will not serve us to be ill-prepared.
“They’re an experienced team and we all know Edin Dzeko, so any ball in the box is a dangerous one.”
United defeated another Italian side, AC Milan en route the final four. Having overcome a proper challenge against them, Solskjaer is looking to repeat the same trick against the Romans.
“We’re in a semi-final now and it feels like a proper European tie, because Roma is a club with loads of tradition and history, but we’ve done well against Italian teams before.”
Noth the Norwegian and his players are keen to end the season on a high. Having fallen at the semifinal stage four times before, Solskjaer is keen to break the hoodoo this time around.
“We’re looking forward to it and we’re going into these games hoping to get to the final. If you can finish this season with a final and a trophy then that would be great.”
