Roma fans install anti-Solskjaer posters ahead of Manchester United clash
According to The Mirror, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not appear to be a favourite among Roma fans in the lead-up to the Europa League semifinal first leg this week.
The Red Devils take on the Italian giants for a place in the competition’s showpiece event. Having fallen at the same stage last season, United will be keen to go one better.
The Norwegian’s comments about Pablo Fonseca’s side has infuriated Roma’s supporters. They have now shown their anger by sticking posters up outside the club’s Trigoria training ground in Italy.
The comments in question came following United’s quarterfinal win over Granada. Speaking to the press, Solskjaer claimed that he has not watched Roma much and is not very familiar with the Italian giants.
This has led to much angst among the Roma fans, who believe the Norwegian was looking down upon them. While that may not have been the case, it has added fire to what is a pivotal game for both teams.
The posters installed have urged the team to ensure Solskjaer remembers them once the tie is done and dusted. It is fair to say that the Romans can now use this as motivation when they face us.
While fans have been festering over Solskjaer’s comments, the Norwegian has quietly gone about scouting the opposition. The United boss is well aware of the challenge posed by the Italians and is relishing the clash against an iconic European side.
Hopefully, he will give Roma and their fans more reason to hate him at the end of the tie.
