Manchester United to battle Leeds and City for Nicolas Tagliafico
According to Teamtalk, Manchester United will battle Leeds United and Manchester City for Ajax Amsterdam star Nicolas Tagliafico.
The 28-year-old joined Ajax in 2018 and has since emerged as a key player for the Dutch giants. The left-back has made 39 appearances for them this season, scoring one goal and making four assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Tagliafico is an excellent player who is capable of impressing at either end of the pitch. An all rounder- he would prove to an asset to United.
Although he penned an extension until 2023, the player’s future at Ajax is far from certain. According to The Daily Mail, the Dutch side will not stand in his way if he chooses to move.
Available for a rather modest £13million, Tagliafico represents excellent value for money to prospective clients. Proven at the highest level, it is no wonder that he is drawing attention from the Premier League’s best.
If the Red Devils do make a move, it will be the second time in as many summers that they will have made an effort to bring in a left-back.
Alex Telles joined United on deadline day last summer but has had to settle for a place behind Luke Shaw in the pecking order. The Brazilian has impressed when given an opportunity but Shaw too has raised his game and has been amongst our best players this season.
With opportunities at a premium, Telles’ future has been brought into question. With him linked with a move away, it makes sense that the Red Devils are eyeing Tagliafico.
