Manchester United keeping tabs on impressive young Sengalese star Abdallah Sima
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are keeping tabs on 19-year-old Senegalese international Abdallah Sima.
The 21-year-old attacker is enjoying an excellent season at Czech giants Slavia Praha. A relative unknown before this season, Sima has burst onto the scene by scoring 19 goals and assisting six in just 35 appearances across all competitions. (h/t Transfermarkt)
To put his performances into perspective, Sima trails just his teammate Provod in the race to be the Czech First League’s top scorer this season. Also, only seven players have grabbed more assists than him in the league.
Sima has also been instrumental in Slavia’s Europa League run. He scored the decisive strike in their shock win over Leicester City. His current deal with the Czech giants runs until 2024.
According to the report, the 21-year-old should not have a problem gaining international clearance to play in England. If Slavia cashed in on Sima this summer, he would be eligible for a governing body endorsement (GBE). It is necessary for him to obtain one in order to ply his trade in England.
Primarily a right-winger, he would strengthen a position that United currently lack an X-factor in. Daniel James remains our lone senior specialist in the position and the Welshman has struggled to showcase his consistency over a sustained spell of matches.
Evolution beckons?
The youngster fits in well in United’s new recruitment strategy of signing the best young players from across the world. While Sima still has ways to go and traits to develop, he has shown the ability to compete alongside the best.
Aided by the coaches and facilities at United, there is every reason to suspect that he would realize his full potential. Moreover, by moving fast, United could land themselves a serious player, much before he turns into a household name.
