Fabrizio Romano: Everton in advanced negotiations for Manchester United target Max Aarons
According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are behind Everton in the race to land Norwich full-back Max Aarons.
The Red Devils are keen to bring in a right-back who can compete with Aaron Wan-Bissaka. United have been emboldened by the growth shown by Luke Shaw following the signing of Alex Telles last summer.
They are now keen to create the same impact on the other flank and had earmarked Aarons as one of the players under consideration.
They will however need to act first if they are serious about landing the 21-year-old. This is because Everton are currently in advanced negotiations for the player.
The Toffees have been in touch with the Canaries since February regarding Aarons. Although a number of teams are keeping tabs on the youngster’s progress, Carlo Ancelotti’s side hope to reach an agreement soon.
Given the Merseysiders’ lead in the enterprise, United will need to act first. After all, it is the early bird that gets the worm.
A seasoned performer!
A product of the Norwich City youth academy, Aarons has grown into a pivotal member of the first-team over the past three years.
Not only did he play a key role in Norwich’s promotion to the Premier League in 2019, but held his own in an otherwise disappointing campaign that ended in relegation.
Aarons has perhaps been unsurprisingly sensational yet again for Norwich. His one goal and four assists in 42 Championship appearances have helped the Canaries once again gain promotion to the top-flight. (h/t Transfermarkt)
According to Romano, the player too appears to be ready to make a move in the summer.
