Bruno Fernandes delays signing Manchester United extension until Paul Pogba does the same
According to The Sun, Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has put off signing a new deal until teammate Paul Pogba does the same.
Both midfielders are amongst our best players and proven match-winners. They have been instrumental not only in our Europa League run but the unlikely title challenge we have posed to Manchester City.
Fernandes has easily been our go-to man this season. He doesn’t just lead the club’s scoring charts but the assists category as well. It thus comes as no surprise that United are keen to tie him down for the best years of his career.
The Portuguese sensation has, for now, poured cold water on the club’s hopes. He has refused to pen the new five-year deal and wants to see how the Pogba negotiations play out.
The Frenchman has just a little over a year left on his current United deal. The club’s record signing, his future at the Theatre of Dreams is far from assured.
Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has often spoken of his client leaving the club amidst interest from the likes of Juventus.
A dynamic duo?
The French ace is currently more settled at the club than he has been in the recent past. In fact, his influence on the team was clearly visible when he was out injured during February and March,
The Red Devils lacked the cutting edge he provided and fell away from the Premier League summit. Fernandes has a high opinion of the player and believes the duo’s best is yet to come. Whether that will happen in red remains to be seen.
“I think, on the pitch, there is still to come the best for both of us. We can do much better together.”

There is little doibt that Fernandes is an ambitious player. He recognizes the need for a club such as United to retain their best players in order to compete at the top.
One would not fault him for taking up a wait and watch approach. Hopefully, the stars will align for us in the right order.
