Transfer News: Manchester United eager to offload Eric Bailly

According to transfer news from Mirror, Manchester United are willing to sanction a sale for Eric Bailly.

There has been a lot of interest from La Liga particularly with the likes of Real Betis, Villarreal and Valencia after the Ivorian. United feel that this could be the correct time to cash in with Bailly being in demand.

Eric Bailly came with a lot of promise and even showed glimpses of it. However, the fact that he played his 100th game earlier last month should tell you how it has panned out in the last 5 seasons. The Ivorian’s spell has been riddled with injuries and he hasn’t featured on a regular basis.

It has been frustrating in the sense that Bailly is probably United’s best defender to partner Maguire, given their styles complement each other. However, he has barely had a run of games in the side, meaning Victor Lindelof is the second choice.

Bailly has made only 15 appearances for United across all competitions this season. To make things worse, he has been unavailable for our last five games after testing positive for COVID-19.

The defender is aware that he is behind Maguire and Lindelof in the pecking order. With the club also looking for another defender, his prospects in the upcoming season aren’t very promising. Hence, it is understandable that he is keen on leaving the club instead of extending his stay.

More Manchester United News:

Bailly is a man in demand. It is not often that an injury-prone player is courted by so many clubs. Betis, Valencia and his former side, Villarreal are interested in him and it would be wise of United to evaluate their option of selling the player and reinvesting the cash back into the squad.
