Manchester United interested in Leicester City starlet Wesley Fofana
According to Foot Mercato (h/t Sport Witness), Manchester United are interested in young Leicester City maverick Wesley Fofana.
The 20-year-old joined the Foxes from Saint-Etienne in 2020 for an impressive £36.5m. A largely unproven player then, Fofana has since impressed and is now worth his weight in gold.
Thanks to Caglar Soyuncu’s injuries, Fofana has received an extended run of games alongside Jonny Evans. So far, he has made 33 appearances, making one assist. (h/t Transfermarkt)
This is not the first time that United have been linked with the player. Fofana has captured the fancy of former United stars Paul Scholes and Owen Hargreaves. Both of them are keen to see us sign him.
The Red Devils are on the lookout for a new defender to play alongside Harry Maguire. While a number of names have been discussed, Fofana is an intriguing one.
Just 20, he already has Premier League experience and has shown he can step up when needed. More so his age makes him a long-term prospect with his best yet to come.
A reservoir of centre-backs?
While first contact has been established, the process is far from simple. Untied spent £80m on Harry Maguire in 2019 and Leicester will seek a similar amount to let go of Fofana.
The coronavirus pandemic has all but made it difficult for United to spend top dollar on the Leicester man. However, this has done little to temper the club’s enthusiasm to land the youngster.

United clearly have a thing for Leicester’s centre-backs. Despite acquiring Maguire, we have also been linked to both Caglar Soyuncu and Jonny Evans.
Fofana is clearly a talented player with high potential. A French Under-21 international, the 20-year-old has a bright career ahead of him.
