Fans react as Manchester United beat Granada 2-0 to qualify for Europa League semi-finals
Manchester United are through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League after they defeated Granada 2-0 (4-0 on aggregate) at Old Trafford on Thursday.
Things got off to a perfect start for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, as Edinson Cavani bundled home just six minutes into the game to get us started. From that point, the team controlled the game without really over-exerting themselves at any point.
Granada, meanwhile, had little to no chances on the night, up until the final few minutes when David de Gea had to make a couple of sharp saves before Jesus Vallejo put the ball into his own net to make it 2-0 for Manchester United.
The result means we are now through to the semi-finals of the Europa League for a second season in a row. Up next will be Italian outfit AS Roma, where we will be coming up against familiar faces in former Red Devils Chris Smalling and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Having fallen at this stage last time out, it becomes crucial that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer & co. ensure history does not repeat itself. Nevertheless, fans were pleased with the win and the progression to the penultimate stages of the Europa League.
Here are some of the reactions from social media on the win.
