West Ham United not keen to include Declan Rice in negotiations with Manchester United for Jesse Lingard
According to The Sun, West Ham United have warned Manchester United against including Declan Rice in transfer negotiations for Jesse Lingard.
The 28-year-old Lingard has been in scintillating form since joining the Hammers on loan in January. With eight goals and four assists in just nine games, he has got the ball rolling from the onset. (h/t Transfermarkt)
His performances have convinced West Ham to keep him on permanently. Since no clause regarding that was included in his loan deal, they are now forced to negotiate a fresh deal with United.
The Red Devils are aware that the player’s value has skyrocketed in the past few months. His form hasn’t just boosted West Ham’s top four chances but also seen him return to the England fold.
They are also keen to use the Hammers’ interest in Lingard to work out a deal for Declan Rice. The 22-year-old has been on United’s radar for some time and would be an excellent addition to the United squad.
According to the report, United are considering creating an £80m package for Rice. They plan to reduce the financial commitment by using Lingard as a makeweight.
West Ham now poured cold water on that proposal. They have made it known that they will not be bullied by United in the negotiations.
