Transfer News: Manchester United given a boost in Paulo Dybala pursuit
According to the Daily Mail (h/t The Express), Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Juventus star Paulo Dybala.
The Argentine ace has endured a difficult season, where he has struggled with both injuries and a loss of form. With just three goals and two assists in 16 games, he has been far from his best this campaign. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Dybala’s contract at the club runs until 2022. With the Old Lady keen to keep Cristiano Ronaldo, they are ready to part ways with the 27-year-old Argentine.
Dybala is currently injured and if the news is true, there is a possibility that he might have played his last game for the Turin giants. He will have no shortage of suitors, with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur all interested in his services. (h/t The Express)
It is no secret that United need to bring in a striker for next season. Edinson Cavani might be on his way out while Anthony Martial has flattered to impress.
Expensive tastes?
The Italian champions’ revenue went down by £62million last season due to the coronavirus pandemic. With more losses on the horizon, it remains to be seen if they are willing to match, let alone improve Dybala’s £225,000-per-week contract.
Contract negotiations between the player and the club have so far got nowhere and a parting might be on the cards. It was also suggested earlier in the week that Juventus might even consider offering Dybala as a part of an offer for Pogba.

There is little doubt that Dybala is a fine player and will add much to the United frontline. However, whether he is the man to lead our attack is debatable.
Moreover, his current loss of form and injuries are a matter of concern and it remains to be seen if it’s just a dip in fortune or anything graver. United lack an infallible scorer to lead the attack and cannot afford to sign the wrong player come the summer.
