Edinson Cavani to leave Manchester United in the summer
According to transfer news from Daily Star, Edinson Cavani could leave Manchester United at the end of this season. The veteran Uruguayan has been linked with a move back to South American side Boca Juniors.
Cavani joined United last summer, initially on a one-year deal. The club do have the option to extend the deal by another year but both parties need to agree on the same. The whole situation has not been helped by his father’s statements.
The 34-year-old has been in the eye of the storm after his father admitted that he could be on the way back to South America in the summer. Argentine giants Boca Juniors have been heavily linked with his services.
While Cavani is not a long-term option, his presence was needed at this time when Marcus Rashford is out injured and Anthony Martial’s goals have dried up. His experience and ability have also acted as inspiration for the young talents coming through the ranks at United.
While Solskjaer has said that the club are looking to sit down with the player for contract talks, the latest revelations from Argentine journalist Martin Costa has not helped.
“There are chances. I have the information that he wants to come here. That doesn’t mean that he’ll just come. He wants to be in a competitive team.”

It will be one situation to keep an eye on until the end of the season. Obviously, his stay being extended would be a good move but in case he departs, the club might just have to accelerate their plans to sign a new striker.
