Andre Silva attracts Barcelona transfer interest amidst Manchester United links
A report by Bild via Marca (h/t The Sun) states that Barcelona are interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt striker and Manchester United transfer target Andre Silva in the summer.
Earlier this month, reports linked Manchester United and Atletico Madrid with a move for the 25-year-old gunman. And the duo were leading Arsenal in the transfer race.
But now, Barcelona have thrown their name in the hat for a striker who has raked in 22 goals and 7 assists in 26 games this season. It took a while for Silva to find his feet.
He broke through at FC Porto before a move to AC Milan. Silva, who has 38 international appearances for the Portuguese national team, then joined Sevilla and Eintracht Frankfurt on loan spells.
Tug of war
A move to the German side was made permanent in 2020 and he has continued to set the Bundesliga alight. Barcelona are said to be looking for a new No.9 despite replacing Luis Suarez with Martin Braithwaite last summer.
They are also interested in Sergio Aguero and Alexandre Lacazette in the Premier League. And if United are serious about signing the Portuguese, they would have Barcelona sign one of the alternatives in place of Silva.
The 6ft 1in striker is thought to be a good replacement for Edinson Cavani, whose United future looks in doubt as talks about a move to Boca Juniors continue. And he is just 25 years old as well.
Silva quite arguably has his best years ahead of him. And it would be beneficial for the club if he could be at Old Trafford during his peak.
