Manchester United News: Jesse Lingard admits West Ham loan has rejuvenated his career
According to news from Daily Mail, Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard feels that the loan move to West Ham has saved his career. The midfielder is all set for a return to the England squad as they get the WC qualifiers underway.
Lingard had fallen way down the pecking order at Manchester United ad had found opportunities hard to come by since the lockdown last year. Having failed to play regularly under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the versatile midfielder moved to West Ham on loan this past January.
Since joining the east London outfit, Lingard has absolutely thrived, banging in five goals and three assists from just seven Premier League matches. In the process, he has helped West Ham sustain their push for a top-four finish.
On the back of this form, Lingard has managed to work his way back into the England national team for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers. The academy graduate recently spoke about how his career got a ‘new lease of life’ after joining West Ham.
‘One hundred per cent, it’s a bit like a new lease of life. I’ve moved to London, which is different, different group of lads – all the lads are brilliant at West Ham, they’ve welcomed me with open arms.
The staff have been great and the whole club, the whole set-up is really good. I’m playing week in week out and I’m doing something that I love so, for me, it’s been perfect. Like you say, it’s a new lease of life.’
Lingard admitted that he always had an England return in mind and felt that a good start at West Ham could help.
‘I think [getting back in the England squad] was always in my mind. I love playing for my country. I’ve already missed half a season and had to really start very quick with West Ham and do the best I can to try and get in there.
It’s just about believing and doing well for West Ham – scoring, assisting, winning games – and I think obviously you know that’s what warranted me a place here, just being on form.’

Having been deprived of opportunities at Manchester United, Lingard has been thriving at the London Stadium under David Moyes. Considering that he doesn’t seem to feature in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s long-term plans, a permanent transfer may well be the best outcome for all parties involved.
