Solskjaer dismisses the notion that Donny van de Beek is unhappy at Manchester United
A troubling piece of news to come out of Manchester United in recent days is that summer signing Donny van de Beek is unhappy at the club but Solskjaer has now given a promising update.
The 23-year-old was our marquee signing last summer but has largely played a peripheral role this season. This in spite of him getting off to an excellent start by scoring on his debut.
While it was reported that the player is keen to have crunch talks with Ed Woodward, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s comments would suggest otherwise.
Speaking to the press (h/t ESPN), the United boss has confirmed that his midfielder is happy at the club. He admits the player’s focus is on getting back onto the pitch for the remainder of the season.
“Donny has been focusing really hard and working really hard to get back available for the latter stages of the season so that’s our focus.”
In today’s game, there is a lack of patience both on and off the field. Media outlets too jump at the first sign of inconvenience to paint a picture of negativity. Solskajer is aware of it and knows there is little to be done to dismiss speculation.
“There is always speculation here.”
Solskjaer proved right
A fine player with Ajax Amsterdam, Van de Beek has struggled to impress at Old Trafford. He has
been linked with a return to the club but Netherlands legend Ronald de Boer has shot it down.De Boer has spoken both with the club and the player’s agent and is in the loop regarding the facts of the matter.
“It’s not true that he asked Man United to leave.”
