Manchester United star Nemanja Matic thrilled to play at historic San Siro
Speaking to the club’s official site, Manchester United star Nemanja Matic has news to share regarding the club’s trip to Milan in the Europa League.
The Red Devils take on AC Milan at the historic San Siro, one of the legendary arenas in European football folklore. Matic is looking forward to gracing the stadium in what is a do or die game for United.
With the stadium set to be demolished in a few years time, this could represent the Serbian’s first and last chance to grace the arena.
“I never had the opportunity to play at the San Siro, this is my first time, so I am looking forward to that.”
Despite having a long and storied career, the 32-year-old still has aims of his own. Hopefully, his trip to the San Siro will be one to remember with United coming away with the result they seek.
“It’s an iconic stadium as everyone knows and we are happy that we can go there and compete with them again.”
Matic started the first leg in midfield alongside Scott McTominay and was rested at the weekend. Hopefully, it would mean he is set for a recall tomorrow night.
Wary yet optimistic
Having been outplayed in the first leg, United will need to step up their game. Matic is optimistic and believes the Red Devils have learned a lot about their opponents.
“Now we know more about them.”
Although confident, he believes it will be a hard game. A fact that could prove true given the return to fitness of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“It’s going to be hard for us again, but we are confident and we will try to win the game.”
