Thierry Henry compares Erling Haaland to Manchester United icon Ruud van Nistelrooy
Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t The Metro), Thierry Henry has compared Erling Haaland to Manchester United hero Ruud van Nistelrooy as the Red Devils continue to be linked with the Borussia Dortmund star.
The Dutchman was one of the most prolific United strikers in the Premier League. He spent just five years at United but left for Real Madrid having scored an impressive 150 goals and 20 assists in 219 games for the club. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Such an infallible scorer is exactly what the club needs right now as they look to get their way back to the top.
Just 20, Haaland might just be that player who can revitalize the United frontline. The Norwegian has scored 33 goals in just 30 appearances this season as he continues to shine in Germany.
“They want to kill. They want to be in the box. Look at the defenders, you won’t be able to live with me.”
Henry, one of the greatest strikers of the game, believes Haaland’s killer instinct makes him a force to reckon with in front of goal. He has compared the youngster to not just Nistelrooy but footballing legend Pele.
“Not so much in our day but Pele, the desire that they have.”
United are keen to bring in Haaland, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer identifying the Norwegian as a replacement for Edinson Cavani.
However, it will not be easy. The likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus are all keeping tabs on Haaland and could sabotage our pursuit of the player.
