AC Milan to pay €20million for Manchester United star Diogo Dalot
According to Italian outlet La Gazzetta Dello Sport via Stopandgoal, AC Milan plan to work out a deal with Manchester United to sign Diogo Dalot permanently.
The 21-year-old joined the Italian giants last summer on a season-long loan. He has since made 21 appearances for Rossoneri, scoring and assisting twice apiece. (h/t Transfermarkt)
While he has failed to impress consistently, there have been moments of brilliance from the young full-back. Dalot was on target last night in Milan’s 2-0 win over Hellas Verona. The 21-year-old impressed at both ends of the pitch.
Dalot has been deployed by manager Stefano Pioli’s in roles ill-fitting of his attributes and has often been forced to adapt. Paolo Maldini is however keen to keep him. While the former Porto man’s future is still uncertain, the clubs could talk to each other soon to reach a decision.
With Aaron Wan-Bissaka the first-choice right-back at United, Dalot will at best play a backup role if he returns to Old Trafford. He has never quite garnered Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s trust and it would be in everyone’s best interest for him to be move on.
United value the Portuguese starlet at €20million. Milan might decide to pay up provided they qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Currently in second spot, the Rossoneri would have to experience an epic meltdown to miss out on Europe’s premier competition.
