Dortmund DOF laughs off Raiola comments on Manchester United target Erling Haaland
According to German site Sport.de, Borussia Dortmund director of football, Michael Zorc has laughed off comments made by Mino Raiola regarding Manchester United target Erling Haaland.
The 20-year-old is already one of the top strikers in European football. With 43 goals and 10 assists in just 43 appearances. If there was any doubt about his breakout season at RB Salzburg, he has clearly put that to rest. (h/t Transfermarkt)
United missed out on signing the striker back in January 2020, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has kept in touch with the player he earlier managed while at Molde. This has fanned the flames regarding a potential move to Old Trafford.
“That was a completely normal statement that he sometimes has to make.”
Haaland’s agent Raiola is not one to sidestep controversy. Speaking to BBC Sports earlier this week, he admitted that there are only a limited number of teams who could afford his client.
While Raiola did not name drop United, German publication Bild named the Red Devils as one of them. Zorc is not worried by the superagent’s comments and has taken it with a pinch of salt.
“First of all, I have to say that it doesn’t bug me at all, and I don’t see that Raiola’s statements are that exciting.”
Zorc agreed with Raiola that there are only a few clubs who can offer Haaland a higher pedestal than Dortmund. However, he believes the number may not be as high as ten.
A good relationship
“It’s also clear that Erling Haaland can’t and won’t play for every club after his time with Borussia Dortmund. I can’t even think of ten clubs.”
The Dortmund DOF does appear to have dropped a hint that the player will stay put in Germany for another season. Haaland also appears to be happy at Dortmund and it might just prove to be the case.

Another client of Raiola who could be on the move next summer is Paul Pogba. The superagent commented earlier this week that his comments on the matter should not have affected United.
It certainly seems to be the case with Zorc at Haaland. The German’s handling of the issue has so far been apt.
