Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms contact with Erling Braut Haaland
According to The Express, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that he is in touch with Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Braut Haaland.
The 20-year-old has firmly established himself as one of the best young players in world football. United are one of the clubs keeping an eye on him as the summer transfer window draws closer.
Haaland burst onto the scene with RB Salzburg in 2019/20, earning himself a move to Dortmund. He has since taken his game to a higher level, averaging a goal a game for the Bundesliga giants.
“You know I can’t speak too much about Erling – it’s disrespectful to say more than I know him and speak to him.”
As he continues to perform, the speculation regarding his future is also growing. Haaland has a £68million release clause in his current contract, but that can be activated only in 2022.
Dortmund are aware that they could get a higher price for him this summer should they decide to sell. One advantage United may have in the race to land the striker is his previous relationship with Solskjaer.
The Norwegian managed the youngster during his spell at Molde and has since stayed in touch. Solskjaer also expressed his happiness at how his protege has developed so far.
“I keep in touch with Erling – it is great to see him become the player he has become.”
While he failed to elaborate on their relationship, he did hint that a move to United may not be off the table. That said, it will not be easy. Having missed out on signing him a year ago, it will be nothing short of a coup this time around. (h/t The Sun)
“He is a Dortmund player and we wish him well there. Let’s see what life will bring later on.”

The Norwegian ace is also managed by Mino Raiola, the same man who represents Paul Pogba. It is fair to say that United do not have the best relationship with the confrontational Italian superagent.
With Edinson Cavani ageing and Anthony Martial suffering from a dip in form, United need to bring in a striker. As things stand, there are few better in the position today than Haaland.
